Special Education Needs

A child has special educational needs if they have a learning problem or disability that make it more difficult for them to learn than most children their age. They may have problems with schoolwork, communication or behaviour. Parents can get help and advice from specialists, teachers and voluntary organizations.
  • How “WE” can help children with special educational needs?
  • We can usually provide help and sometimes uses specialists. If your child has special educational needs, they may need extra help:
  • With schoolwork
  • Reading, writing, number work or understanding information
  • Expressing themselves or understanding what others are saying
  • Making friends or interacting with adults
  • Behaving properly in school
  • Organizing themselves
  • They might have sensory or physical needs that affect them in school.

Professional Development

Professional development refers to continuing education and career training after a person has entered the workforce in order to help them develop new skills, stay up-to-date on current trends, and advance their career. Many fields require professionals to participate in continuing education and ongoing learning. In these cases, the field likely has specific continuing education (CE) or continuing professional education (CPE) requirements which must be completed through an approved continuing education provider.

Why is professional development important?

Most people aren't investing in their career development. One-third of employees say they do nothing to upgrade or improve their current skill set. These people aren't too worried about their future career. This means by taking advantage of professional development, continued education, and planning for your career, you've already got a leg up on a third of your peers. Because you're going for it and taking ownership of your career, you're much more likely to achieve success and meet your goals.

Library Learning Resource Center

These centers contain traditional educational resources such as books, journals, software and audio/visual materials, but they also exist to promote electronic information resources. Examples of these are subscription electronic journals, databases, free websites and other web based resources. The library learning resource center (LLRC)  at our school provides a well-equipped and balanced collection of resources that supports the diverse learning styles, cultures, beliefs and host country language of students within the school. It plays a central role in school by being a hub of learning and for seeking information.

Student Counselling

Counselors often help students:
  • Maintain academic standards and set goals for academic success.
  • Develop skills to improve organization, study habits, and time management.
  • Work through personal problems that may affect academics or relationships.
  • Improve social skills.
  • Cope with school or community-related violence, accidents, and trauma.
  • Identify interests, strengths, and aptitudes through assessment.
School counselors offer individual counseling to help students resolve personal or interpersonal problems. They may also offer small group counseling to help students enhance listening and social skills, learn to empathize with others, and find social support through healthy peer relationships. For students who are otherwise unable to access mental health services, school counselors provide support at no cost. School counselors also provide support to school staff by assisting with classroom management techniques and the development of programs to improve mental health or school safety. When necessary, counselors may also intervene in a disrupted learning environment.

The Access Center

Providing regional needs assessment and assistive technology training service to disabled people in higher education or employment.
